Tilden Park Steam Trains

Located just off of Grizzly Peak Drive, the Tilden Park steam trains provide an enjoyable twelve minute ride through woodland and chaparal, with views of Tilden Park and San Pablo bay.

The train disappears into a short turning loop and will reappear at the station shortly

The valve gear is driven from excentrics mounted on the front drive axle between the wheels. Steam is vented while waiting to prevent condensation build up in the chambers.

A steam driven air pump supplies the brakes on the engine and tender.
